This weblog carries news, announcements, and guidance for students in Prof. Isern's section of HIST 104.
I'm posting here the essay, written for exam 2, adjudged the outstanding essay in the group. It's by Anna Stansbery, and is posted, with her permission, as a model.
Here it is.
The final deadline for History in Your Community papers is 12pm (noon) April 21, which is also the last chance to receive 5 bonus points for completing both assignments (Cultural Currents is the other) by that date. Also, remember there is
no class Thursday, so it may be a good time to visit a museum for those who have yet to finish the assignment. For more info on the requirements, consult the description on the website at:
http://www.ndsu.edu/instruct/isern/104/community104.htmp.s. If you have not been actively participating in your group discussions, get going on it. It will be a major part of your participation grade (40% of total) and there will again be group points awarded soon.
Thanks to a couple of class members who pointed out that I had made an error in the calendar. The final exam is, indeed, on Wednesday 10 May, but the time is not 8:00; it is 10:30 AM. I've changed the calendar to note the correction.
Several people have asked about having another participation make-up session in Pavek. Well, here you go: a program upcoming in the Pavek Hall Lounge on the evening of 26 April features the mysterious New Deal documentary film,
Rain for the Earth. Here's a flyer (
PDF file) about the program.
Earlier we established a target date for those who wished to earn 10 bonus points by completing both the "History in Your Community" and "Cultural Currents of the University" assignments by spring break. Now comes a second opportunity for those who couldn't meet that earlier target: Earn 5 bonus points by turning in both assignments (as e-mail messages to Mr. Armstrong) by NOON FRIDAY 21 APRIL.
Jeff has put together a list of review terms for the second exam:
