This weblog carries news, announcements, and guidance for students in Prof. Isern's sections of HIST 104 offered via NDSU Distance & Continuing Education.
Quiz 11 has been posted. The link is
www.plainsfolk.com/webquiz/104/quizzes/104quiz11.aspThis week Dr. Isern tells us about World War II. TQ tells us why Democratic nations' armies do poorly when war starts, but are formidble once they get going. Make sure you understand his reasons. You must use all of your reasoning power as well as your knowledge of the times in which TQ was writing to understand this.
See you on the Gap!
Quiz 10 is available at
www.plainsfolk.com/webquiz/104/quizzes/104quiz10.aspThe discussion this week centers on concentration of power in a Democracy. This is the same issue on which the Anti-Federalists opposed the Constitution in 1789, the issue that led to the American Civil War. Many people feel that the Federal government is a threat to liberty. Consider TQs arguments carefully.
I was a little surprised at how little conversation TQs comments on American women generated!
Quiz 9 is available when you are ready at
www.plainsfolk.com/webquiz/104/quizzes/104quiz9.aspMost of you are up to date on quizzes...a few need to catch up. As I mentioned, because of the glitches with the WebQuiz program I have activated all links to quizzes so that if you missed one, go ahead and get it done.
This week we are looking at the Roaring 20s, while we read TQ's take on "Young Women in a Democracy." This provides some interesting discussion as we compare TQ's views from 170 years ago to the world of Flappers and Pentecostals and on to today's culture. How are these time periods different? How are they similar? Have fun!!!
Welcome back...hope everyone had a great spring break. A few of you sent in submissions over the break. I will get those scored in short order.
As you have noticed, the quiz occassionally crashes. Dr. Isern and I have been working on this problem over the break, and we think we have found a solution. You can try it out on Quiz 8 at
www.plainsfolk.com/webquiz/104/quizzes/104quiz8.aspHopefully, you will not notice any differences, and, hopefully, the quiz will not crash!
OK...it's a long story, and I'm not telling, but quizzes are up and running...for the time being. Links for all quizzes are operational as of this moment. Get caught up if you need to.
