Film Review: Friday Night Lights

In the movie Friday Night Lights takes place in Odessa, Texas and is about the town’s high school football team. The movie starts out at the beginning of the football season. The team has high expectations from the coach and the town. They are expected to have a perfect season and to win state be for the season even starts. After the first game there star player is hurt and out with an injury for the rest of the season. The second game is lost and the town starts to turn on the coach and team. During the whole season many of the players experience problems at school and at home. Football is there only chance the players have of getting out of Odessa and bettering there lives. In the end the Odessa Panthers get lucky and make it to the playoffs; however they do end up losing the championship game after a great comeback late in the second half. Some of the players get out of Texas and better there lives and others don’t.

I thought this was a good movie. It really shows how important football is in Texas. I also think that is may show how some people are stuck on the plains and in there towns. The days they played football are the Glory Days. It seems like if you win state, your are a god and if you lose, you are a nobody. This is the only chance in life these players have to make it big.
