The Coffee Klatch

E-mail Discussion List for "Coyote Culture"

The Coffee Klatch is a discussion list operating via e-mail and Listserv software hosted at North Dakota State University. Prof. Isern is the owner of the list, meaning that he adds or deletes subscribers and manages the operations. It is a closed list, meaning that only members can send and receive on it. We use it to submit assignments for the seminar and to talk about them; to make announcements; and to pursue whatever other discussions in the history of the Great Plains we might wish to pursue.

As soon as a new member of the seminar is registered, Prof. Isern adds that person to the list. Then he sends a message to the list introducing the newcomer and inviting that person to tell a bit about herself. From then on discussions continue.

A handy reference for discussants is the Virtual Seminar Table. There you can look up your colleagues and sort out who is who in the discussions.

Another important reference is the Archives of the Coffee Klatch. At the archives you can look up all the contributions to past discussions.

Some Points to Remember about the Coffee Klatch
  1. Attachments to messages are not a good idea. Our server doesn't like to send attachments to a list.

  2. Please don't forward items not having to do with the seminar.

  3. We are here to support one another, to learn from one another, and also to help one another improve. This means we comment constructively on one another's work. Both cordial praise and civil criticism are to be expected.
