The umbrella organization for NZ-OZ Studies is the Western Social Science Association. The WSSA is a house with many rooms: it has sections devoted to disciplines (Anthropology, History, Political Science, and so on) and other sections devoted to topics or studies (Arid Land Studies, Canadian Studies, Women's Studies, and others), with cross listing of sessions between sections. The annual meeting of the WSSA is a major, international conference that convenes in late April in a western American city. Its content extends beyond the traditionally social scientific disciplines, involving scholars of the arts, humanities, sciences, and applied fields.
Blog Business
NZ-OZ Connections (at right) is a weblog to serve communications within the section and also to serve general interests in the study of Australia and New Zealand.
In order to post to the weblog, you have to be a member. Here’s how to become one.
- Send an e-mail to the webmaster and tell him you want to join the blog.
- When you receive a (semi-automated) reply, follow the instructions it gives.
- Once confirmed in your membership, post an introduction of yourself (a sentence or two), to the blog.
After that you can join in discussions and post items of interest. Feel free to get involved, keeping in mind the purpose of the weblog and refraining from postings not germane. The webmaster reserves the right (indeed, the obligation) to edit submissions in friendly and helpful fashion.
