Photos from Salt Lake

A few digital snaps from our gathering in Salt Lake City.

Robert Kemp led off the proceedings of the section with a presentation on health care in Australia as a potential model for state-level reform in the US.

Presenters in Panel 3 were Richard Gaskins and Srikanta Chatterje. Richard gave a paper on accident compensation in New Zealand, Srikanta a comparison of the effects of welfare state reform in New Zealand and Sweden.

In Panel 5 Bill Schaniel presented his work on the Maori, Christianity, and technology, and Rebecca Durrer hers on the propaganda of the New Zealand Company.

Paul Lockman presented a paper on Aboriginal-on-Aboriginal crime in Panel 6.

Participants in the section, along with other WSSA participants, enjoyed a dinner out at Ruth's Diner, a legendary SLC roadhouse. Richard Gaskins seems to be attempting to poach his neighbor's dessert. Dave Thiessen, right behind Rebecca Durrer, appears to be nodding off again. Also at the table are participants from Rural Studies and History: Lisa Ossian, Jere Roberson, and Suzzanne Kelley.
