Announcements linked to my home page (www.ndsu.edu/instruct/isern) deal with my courses offered via Distance and Continuing Education. Ongoing offerings are my two graduate seminars: the reading seminar, HIST 730 Coyote Culture, and the research seminar, HIST 790 Grassroots History. I'll be doing some updating and re-design on these over the summer, but they remain continuously in session. In addition, commencing fall 2005, HIST 103 US to 1877 goes online. I'm doing all the content for this course; I'll also be involved with teaching it in the fall; but most of the administration, once the course is up and running, will be done by doctoral-level graduate assistants. I take some pride that this course will deliver the same content, perhaps even in a more polished manner, as my course on campus. The main medium for delivering content is CDs containing lectures in talking PowerPoint files. Communications and assignments will be carried on via a comprehensive course website. Development of this course for distance delivery is my main summer work project. Miles Lewis, of our PhD program here, and Dale Davis, from the E-Learning program at Northern State, are working with me on development.
