I-CORE Team

The International CORE (I-CORE) team was started in Fall 2008 as a way for returning NDSU students to assist and mentor new international students during the Fall & Spring international student orientation. In addition to welcoming new students and helping them to acclimate to a different culture and campus, team participants are able to develop communication, customer service and leadership skills as well as derive satisfaction from welcoming new students to North Dakota State University. Team members are invited to apply prior to fall and spring semester. If selected, team members have the option of participating for one or two semesters. The number of new I-CORE team members depends on the number of returning members and therefore will vary from semester to semester.

"I had a great time during the International Student Orientation week. It was fun being the part of the I-CORE team. I got the opportunity to meet new International Students and help them out. At the same time it was a learning experience for me."
-Girish Raj Uprety, Junior, Nepal

"It was a great experience! I had a lot of fun meeting new students and working with them. Thank you for creating this opporunity for us."
-Nadeesha Bellana, Sri Lanka, Junior

"It was a really cool experience. When you teach new students about NDSU and life in Fargo, you also learn from them and get to meet new and interesting people. For me, the best part of my I-CORE experience is now, when I hang out with some of the students I helped orientate. You feel really happy when you watch them adjust to American culture, and you can be proud that you helped someone learn a new culture."
-Ebuka Okoye, Nigeria, sophomore
