Scanning
Now that the scanning program is open and running, click on Preview (make sure the picture is in place).
When the preview scan is done, follow these steps:
1. First, select the type of document you want to scan. Is it a photo, a hand drawing? Is it black and white, or in color. Is it high quality, or poor quality? A photo should be scanned using a Sharp Color Photo type, or better. In any cases, if you think that you do not have a good result when you are done scanning, try again with a different type.
2. Then, select a Path. A path will set the resolution (dpi) at which the scanner should scan the document. Your best choice is DeskJet 500/600/800 Series. With this choice, you are pretty sure to have a good resolution for any documents. Experimenting with the other choices is really the only way to learn what is different about them.
3. Resize the scanning range to your desires.
4. When you are ready, click on Final.
You will be asked to type a filename and a place to save the picture as, and the format. Do so and click on Save. The scanning process will begin. You can then copy the file you scanned on a disk for later use or open a graphic program like Adobe Photoshop and open your file from there to edit it.
