Securing your network printer
ITS recomends that you secure your network printers by implimenting these best practices. Desktop Support will impliment these setting on printers within departments that are fully supported.
Settings that need to be modified:

PJL Password:
File System Password:
System Contact
System Location - Set to Building/Room (eg IACC 236)
IPX/SPX . Disable
AppleTalk . Disable
DLC/LLC . Disable
SNMP . Set the “Set Community Name” & the “Get Community Name”
SLP Config . Disable
Bonjour . Disable
FTP Printing . Disable
IPP Printing . Disable
HP XML Services . Disable
Multicast IPv4 . Disable
Web Services Print . Disable
WS-Discovery . Disable
RCFG . Disable
Privacy Settings . Disable “Allow product information to be sent to HP”
Encryption Strength . Set to High & Encrypt all Web communication
ACL (Access Control List) . You may want to restrict printing/access to the campus by entering “134.129.1.1” under Address & 255.255.0.0 under subnet.
