Anti-Virus Migration |

Currently NDSU is migrating from McAfee Viruscan Enterprise to the Microsoft Forefront anti-virus program. This is a basic overview of the time line, this is subject to change | 2011 | June- Campus CIOs were informed of the final decision to migrate to Forefront/Security Essentials.
| Week of June 20- Internal IT communication started.
| Week of June 27- ITS Web pages were created to document the move
- Home Use – Security Essentials (SE) download page was linked to from ITS webpages
- McAfee installers were removed from the software download page for the NDSU Campus
| Week of July 4- Forefront Installers were made available to technicians who subscribe to the IT Techs group
| Week of July 11- Initial communication sent to NDSU Communication Liaisons group
- Initial communication sent to students, faculty and staff.
| August- Forefront management application should be available through the NDUS system.
| September- Further communication to the students, faculty and staff regarding the migration.
- Discuss Forefront/SE at IT Communication Liaisons meeting
- Discuss Forefront/SE at IT Techs meeting
| November- Push the Forefront installation through ZENworks for ITS Supported machines.
| 2012 | January- McAfee installers were removed from the software download page for the NDSU Campus
- Further communication to the students, faculty and staff regarding the migration.
March- Start the removal of McAfee from computers that are still in ePO.
| March 31- DEADLINE - McAfee contract expires
| April 1- Turn off any NDUS FTP server that offers DATs
- Turn off NDUS/NDSU ePO server
