Microsoft Forefront | ||
Microsoft Forefront can only be installed on NDSU owned computers and is not currently available for download. To get a copy of Forefront for your NDSU owned computer, please contact your local IT support person(s) or contact the NDSU ITS Help Desk at 231-8685. For home use, please visit our page on Security Essentials. Currently NDSU is migrating from McAfee Viruscan Enterprise to the Microsoft Forefront anti-virus program. The McAfee contract expires on March 31, 2012. All installations of NDSU supplied McAfee products must be removed from computers, on or before this date. | ||

Please contact your local IT personnel to get a copy of Forefront. Departments supported by ITS Desktop Support will have Forefront deployed and configured automatically. | ||

Instructions | ||
There are two installers; a 32 bit version and a 64 bit. 32 bit [Windows XP/ Windows Vista]- Copy the 32 bit installation file to your desktop and double click to begin the installation. 64 bit [Windows Vista (64) / Windows 7 (64)] - Copy the 64 bit installation file to your desktop, right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator". Once the installation begins, continue to follow the instructions. During the installation you may be notified that McAfee is installed on your computer. At this point, be sure to allow Forefront to remove the software for you. Once finished, Forefront may ask to restart the computer.
To configure Forefront, open your Forefront control panel by double clicking on the Forefront icon (a green box with a white shield) in your system tray next to the clock. Next, select the settings tab; you should now see settings for the scheduled scan. Change your scan type to "full scan" and change the date and time to Wednesday at 12 PM. Your settings should match the image below:
