Access NDSU File Services - Instructions for Windows 7
The following only applies once you have been notified that your files have been migrated.
- Connect from a Windows 7 computer on campus at NDSU or at another N.D. University System college or university campus.
- Connect from a Windows 7 computer off campus.
On Campus:
To connect to File Services from on campus, you can run an automatic script or use step-by-step instructions.
Automatic Script
Before you begin, uninstall the Novell client from your computer using these instructions. Removing Novell will improve the performance and speed of your Windows File Services drives.
After you have removed the Novell client, open Internet Explorer and use it to download the scripts below. (Note: If you use Firefox, it will add a .txt extension to the script and the script will not run.)
1. Right click the script (below) for the drive to which you want to connect, and then choose to Save Link As (or Save Target As). Save the file to your Desktop.
- S: (department shared): s-dept-shared.cmd
- U: (personal user): u-personal-user.cmd
- X: (cross-department shared): x-cross-dept-shared.cmd
2. Double-click the script file on your Desktop (if a security warning pops up, choose Run), and then follow the prompts to connect.
3. Once the script closes automatically, the drive you created should appear under Computer.
