The migration of folders and files from Novell to the new Windows File Services system was successfully completed on Saturday, March 9.
Faculty and staff who have access to individual user (U:) drives, department shared (S:) drives or cross-department (X:) drives can now access their folders and files in the new system. They can also resume accessing those folders and files from computers in instrumented classrooms and clusters.
With the migration complete, file services users are being asked to remove the Novell client from Windows computers by March 28. Instructions are provided at www.ndsu.edu/its/file-services. Removing Novell will vastly improve the performance and speed of File Services drives, and the uninstallation process takes only 5-10 minutes to complete.
Instructions on how to manually "Connect to Windows File Services" from on or off campus are available for Windows, Mac and mobile devices also at that website.
