Used computers, printers and projectors available for department purchase through cascade program

Published: 07 May 2013

ITS will replace a number of cluster computers, printers and classroom projectors this summer as part of the cascade program. During this process, the used equipment will be available for purchase by departments; used equipment will not be for sale to individuals.

The goal of the cascade program is to reduce IT support costs by replacing older departmental equipment with newer technology.

Windows computers, printers and projectors will be available through this year's cascade program. Details about available equipment and a link to the equipment request form are available at:

The computer sale is part of a larger computer life-cycle initiative that includes preferred computer configurations for new equipment purchases, as well as secure and environmentally responsible disposal of obsolete equipment.

Preferred computer configurations with special pricing from the NDSU Bookstore are listed at:

The ongoing refurbishing and disposal program is conducted by ITS in conjunction with the Purchasing Department's surplus property process. This program promotes reuse of viable equipment, while providing appropriate removal of data from surplus computers.

Requests for cascaded equipment will be processed on Friday, May 11.  Requests received after May 11 will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Billing will be submitted through the Journal Import Process and will be billed by default after July 2013.

To order new standard machines for under $900, visit the ITS preferred hardware Web page:
