Desktop Support for Windows XP ends after June 30
The Desktop Support unit of Information Technology Services will discontinue support for Windows XP after June 30, 2013, to promote computer security campuswide. Desktop Support is proactively making this change ahead of Microsoft's timeline for discontinuing support, security updates and fixes for Windows XP.
Windows XP will continue to work with most programs currently used on campus.
If you have Windows XP installed on a computer that is currently supported by ITS Desktop Support, we recommend you take one of the following actions to prepare for the end of XP's lifecycle:
- Talk to your departmental software contact about upgrading the operating system on your current machine, OR
- Replace your machine with a new computer or with a used computer purchased through NDSU's computer cascade program
