"SOD Cluster" becomes a virtual service
Published: 18 February 2010 04:37 PM

Effective on Friday, Feb. 19, the "SOD Cluster" -- a set of computers running Unix-type operating systems -- will no longer be housed in IACC 105E.

Instead, these computers will become "virtual" machines that users can access over the Internet.

Allowing users to access the same technology from any networked computer will allow the IT Division to offer more stable, robust and up-to-date computing services while saving on maintenance, upgrade and facility costs.

Previous users of the SOD cluster will be able to access their files and accounts by using secure SSH software (available from NDSU's Software Downloads Page) to connect to abacus.nodak.edu

Please e-mail NDSU.HelpDesk@ndsu.edu, call 231-8685 or stop by the Help Desk in IACC 150 if you have questions.
