"Dear NDSU.EDU User" e-mail is fake

A number of NDSU students and employees have reported receiving an e-mail with the subject line "Dear NDSU.EDU User."

That e-mail is a phishing scam designed to steal passwords.

NDSU Information Technology Services will NEVER call or e-mail you to ask for your password or other personal information.

If you received the scam e-mail, do not reply --  simply delete the message.

If you replied to the scam e-mail with personal information, or have questions about IT security, please call the ITS Help Desk at 231-8685 (option 1).
