ITS deploys new computer management suite

Published: 03 February 2014

Beginning in February, Desktop Support will remotely deploy a new computer management suite, Microsoft System Center 2012, to all ITS-managed computers that have a Windows 7 operating system and are part of the Active Directory.

NDSU faculty and staff do not need to take any action to prepare for this change. It will take place in the background and should not cause any disruptions. They may notice the installation of Microsoft Silverlight and Microsoft System Center 2012. Both of these applications will appear under the Programs list in Windows 7.

Microsoft System Center will replace Novell ZENworks, which is currently used by Desktop Support for remote control of managed computers, application deployment and other daily support tasks.

More information about Microsoft System Center is available at: http://www.ndsu.edu/its/help_desk/desktop_support_hub/systemcenter/
