This year marks the 11th anniversary of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month put on by Department of Homeland Security and theNational Cyber Security Alliance. This also marks a proclamation from North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple that October is Cyber Security Awareness Month (Proclamation Here).

WooHoo, I just got this sweet app for my phone, it lets everyone know where I am at so my friends can find me easier, posts to Facebook and Twitter what I am doing, and even will massage my neck when it senses I am tensed up. But wait, why does this app need to access my device storage? Could this possibly text pay services on my behalf? Recent research has found that an Android App can ask for 124 different types of permissions and 42% of smartphone users are not even aware that there are permissions for apps on phones. Things to watch for:
1. Research apps before installing them, read the reviews and look at ratings
2. Only use apps from the manufacturer app store
3. Read the permissions before installing and using an app, if you are unsure about a permission, research some more or do not install

Smartphone Shared Memory Vulnerability Found.
A Vulnerability in the barrier between applications and operating systems has been found in Android, Windows Phone, and iOS devices. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to track user activity over time on a mobile device through the use of specially crafted app that a user installs on their device.
