Instructional Services Student Technician

Hours per week: 10  
Starting Wage: $8.00/hour
Reports to: Instructional Services Manager

Student technicians are responsible for supporting the usage of the clicker technology on campus. They will assist with the training of faculty and staff on using the clicker technology. No prior experience with clickers required. Training on the clicker technology will be provided by Turning Technology and the Instructional Services staff will train on the Lecture Capture product and campus-specific clicker information.

*This position is paid by the Turning Technology clicker vendor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. For Clickers and Lecture Capture:

  • Support usage on campus, including monthly Faculty Senate meetings 
  • Conduct group and one-on-one training sessions 
  • Attend initial classes where clickers or lecture capture are used for the first time
  • Follow-up with campus users throughout the semester
  • Communicate regular feedback to the vendors on use and needs
  • Maintain the related Instructional Services web pages in TYPO3
  • Assist with all other assigned duties

 4. Work safely

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Background in visual design and graphic art programs, including: 
    •  Adobe Photoshop,Adobe InDesign
  • Background in Web authoring and Web development languages and software packages, including: 
    • HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver
  • Teaching, tutoring, and/or training experience
