STS Manager

Hours/week: Minimum 15 hours
Starting Wage: $11.00/hour
Reports to: STS Coordinator

The Student Technology Services (STS) manager is responsible for overseeing the functions of STS and communicating on a regular basis with the STS coordinator and other members of the STS management team, STS employees, and various IT Division staff. The manager will be involved in human resources activities such as recruiting, interviewing, and hiring, and will also assist with other management activities such as employee orientation and public relations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Human resources activities including recruiting, processing applications, scheduling and conducting interviews, developing and conducting orientation and training
  • Update and maintain STS website and STS Blackboard site
  • Plan and coordinate STS events and staff display tables at public relations events
  • Work with the IT communications coordinator to coordinate IT Division/STS presence at NDSU recruitment and orientation activities (e.g., Discover NDSU, resource fairs, career fairs, and Spectrum articles)
  • Update handbooks and other STS documentation as needed
  • Update and maintain student employee records
  • Oversee and assist with STS communication
  • Actively mediate personnel issues that arise
  • Promote and administer STS employee performance evaluation process each semester
  • Enforce STS work practices
  • Adhere to NDSU Human Resources policies
  • Maintain a high level of professional competency and work safely
  • Deal with sensitive situations and information in a confidential manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Sophomore or higher standing
  • Minimum 2 semester commitment (preferably longer)
  • 2.5 G.P.A. or higher
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Human resources experience; Supervisory/Management experience
  • Available to work during the summer
  • Management-related or other appropriate academic courses or training
  • Previous experience working in the IT Division or another department at NDSU
  • Public speaking experience
  • Marketing experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Content Management Systems
