Publishing Your Website
"FTP" stands for File Transfer Protocol, and refers to a simple program that allows you to transfer your files from your local site to the remote Web server site. Until you transfer your files to the Web server, the rest of the world (or your class / teacher) cannot see them. If you are using an online Web hosting and creation tool like Google Sites, your files are already on the host server, so you do not need to upload them. If you use HTML or a program like Dreamweaver to create your Web site, you will need to upload your files to the Web server.NDSU uses an FTP utility called Win SCP, a free NDSU software download) for NDSU students, staff, and faculty.
