President Joseph A. Chapman has awarded 2009-11 endowed
professorships to Mark McCourt, professor of psychology; Mark
Meister; associate professor of communication; and Mark Sheridan,
professor of biological sciences. Each recipient was selected
because of his excellent achievement in all three areas of
teaching, research and service.
McCourt is the recipient of the Dale Hogoboom Endowed
Professorship Award for 2009-11. The professorship carries with
it a salary stipend of $5,000 for each of the next two years and
$1,300, also for two years, for expenditures related to academic
endeavors.
Meister is the recipient of the Walter F. And Verna Gehrts
Endowed Professorship Award. The Gehrts Endowed Professorship
carries with it a salary stipend of $5,000 for each of the next
two years and $1,300, also for two years, for expenditures
related to academic endeavors.
Sheridan is the recipient of the Jordan A. Engberg Endowed
Professorship Award for 2009-11. The professorship carries with
it a salary stipend of $5,000 for each of the next two years and
$2,000 also for two years, for expenditures related to academic
endeavors.
Chapman said that all three professors were richly deserving of
their award, noting that receiving the professorship is an
indication of the highest esteem in which the recipient is held
by his colleagues and the institution.
