This image of North Dakota was captured on July 9, 1996, by the NOAA-12 polar-orbiting weather satellite. It was created by coloring AVHRR channels 2, 1, and 3 red, green, and blue, respectively.
With changes primarily reflecting vegetational (especially cropland) maturity, it provides an interesting comparison to the previous image taken on June 11, 1996, just one month earlier.
