Class
Discussions:
Due
to the number of registered students, in class discussion
of topics is possible. Lectures are followed by discussion
classes where appropriate. For these discussion classes a
research/review paper is assigned and a discussion leader
is chosen (among students on a rotational basis). The discussion
leader will present a short summary of the article and leads
all others in a comprehensive analysis of the topic. All students
should have a thorough understanding of the topic being discussed.
Level of understanding, participation in discussion and ability
to lead the discussion are evaluated and a grade is assigned.
Exams:
Exams
I and II will be cumulative questions or problems on topics
discussed in the class. The final will be a cumulative 1/2-1
hour oral exam to be arranged with Dr. Kianian by the last
day of class.
