SHRA Minutes for October 7, 2003

The first meeting of the year was held at Concordia College of Moorhead.  Shelly Gompf, the Director of Human Resources at Innovis Health was the October guest speaker. She talked about the importance of job titles, her job history at Microsoft Great Plains and Concordia and her present job at Innovis.  She focused on the policy creating, adjusting and enforcing she directs at Innovis. Shelly stressed the importance of being an “employer of choice” when it comes to HR in any organization.  Three elements Shelly shared that employees are looking for were critical thinking skills, group work experience and good communication skills.

Steve and Caroline spoke about the potential fundraiser at the Fargo Dome, but didn’t have enough committed participation from the group to make it worth while.  Caroline stressed that the club needs money, so be thinking about possible fundraising ideas. Jeff took money for dues and registration forms. Sarah spoke about Miss NDSU and other NDSU activities. The next meeting will be Tuesday, November 4 at MSUM Center for Business Room 210.  Hope to see you all there.
