Jay Devitt form Community First and past vice president of SHRA spoke to us about cover letters and resumes.  He told us things that we should do to make a resume that stands out from the rest of the crowd.
 
The cover letter
 
- Use up to date and correct contact info. Avoid unprofessional email addresses.
- Tie the cover letter into the job description.
- Address over/under qualifications.
- Use approiate paper and fonts (New Roman).
- One page long
- Customize the cover letter for each job.
- Proofread, proofread, proofread
 
The Resume
 
- Give contact info.
- Use Action Verbs.
- Use Appropriate paper and fonts.
- One page long
- Customize for each field of work.
- Proofread, proofread, proofread
- Thank You letters or emails
- Use outside resources
