Present: Virginia Clark Johnson, Philippe d'Anjou, Robert Harrold, Kate Haugen, Phil McClean, Stephen O’Rourke, Larry Peterson, Doug Rymph, Orven Swenson, Justin Wageman, Kristi Wold-McCormick.

1. The minutes from the March 25, 2003 meeting were approved as distributed.


2. The following courses have not been submitted for the five-year reviews that were due by December 15, 2002; however the faculty involved are working on their submissions. The Committee agreed they should be given a July 1 deadline.

3. Student petitions for three students were unanimously approved. The student petition from a student was rejected.

4. Five-Year reviews:

ENGR 311: History of Technology in America. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 3,6.

ENGL 340/341: 19th/20th Century American Novel. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 1,6. Not approved for category D.

ENGL 342: 19th Century American Short Story. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 1,6. Not approved for category D.

WS 350: Perspectives on Women’s Studies. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 1,6. Not approved for category D.

MUSC 108: Roots of American Popular Music. Unanimously approved for categories A & D, outcomes 3, 6.

MUSC 201: World Music. Unanimously approved for categories A & D outcomes 6, 7.

THTR 115: World Film. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 3, 4. Not approved for category D.

5. New Course requests

ADFH 411: Food and World Cultures. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 1, 2, 3. Not approved for category D.

PHIL 101: Introduction to Philosophy. Unanimously approved for category A, outcomes 3, 6, 7.

CDFS 230: Life Span Development. Unanimously approved for category B, outcomes 3, 6.


6. It was decided that we need to meet again. May 6 was suggested; Larry will confirm later.
