The dollar amounts listed are projected and are subject to change. Prepare a separate application form for each scholarship. Be sure to check the permission statement on the last page of the form which allows the Scholarship Committee to obtain a current copy of your transcript from the Registrar's Office at North Dakota State University. Completed application forms are due Friday, January 30th, 2009, EML 255 by 5:00 p.m. YOU MUST BE ENROLLED FULL-TIME IN THE COLLEGE OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION AT THE TIME OF DISBURSEMENT.

GENERAL
D.B. AND EDITH ALLEN Two scholarships of $420 will be awarded to sophomore, junior or senior students with a 3.0 cumulative average or higher, exhibiting leadership qualities, showing professional promise, character and providing service to the community. Financial need will be considered when other qualifications are equal. One award will go to a student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. One award will go to a student majoring in Dietetics. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
ALBA BALES SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $390 will be awarded to an active junior member of Phi Upsilon Omicron-Beta Chapter who demonstrates leadership potential. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
GRACE E. BAYLISS GOLD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Three scholarships of $1000 will be awarded to outstanding students with financial need. One of the scholarships will be awarded to a current freshman to be received in their sophomore year, one to a sophomore to be received in their junior year, one to a junior to be received in their senior year. The students must be enrolled in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 15 credits at time of award disbursement.
DEAN CHARLOTTE BENNETT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to an upperclassman to provide financial support. The student must be majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Preference is also based on active involvement in the leadership of the student member section of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and other campus and community organizations. Applicant must have and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
BOARD OF VISITORS SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1200 will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Education; or Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. The recipient must exhibit financial need, be active in student organizations, and have a minimum CGPA of 3.0. Board members will interview the final applicants to determine the recipient. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
JESSAMINE S. BURGUM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $400 will be awarded to freshmen or sophomore students majoring in an area of Apparel, Design and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection is also based on academic aptitude, character, and vocational promise. Financial need will be considered but is not a limiting factor. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
KATHERINE BURGUM OUTSTANDING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $600 will be awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection is based on outstanding contributions to the college through service to professional and college organizations. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
LOIS EVANS OUTSTANDING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to an student enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education, majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Education or Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
FARGO-MOORHEAD AREA HOME ECONOMISTS AWARD One award of $200 will be awarded by the Fargo-Moorhead Area Home Economists to a sophomore majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection criteria: a minimum 3.0 GPA, have financial need and demonstrate leadership qualities. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
AGNES M. HANSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $675 will be awarded to students who will be a junior or senior in Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. The students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference given to applicants who demonstrated both financial need and a history of community service and student leadership. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
VIRGINIA L. HASSOUN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a woman enrolled in an area of: Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. The primary intent of this scholarship is to help and encourage international women students from developing countries. The recipient must be a full time student who has a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or greater and financial need. Preference will be given to an international student from a developing country. If such a student does not apply in a given year, the scholarship may be awarded to a North Dakota resident, meeting all the above criteria.
BETH E. AND RODNEY C. HASTINGS SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $360 will be awarded to a student majoring in Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; Family and Consumer Sciences Education or Agricultural Education at North Dakota State University. Applicant must maintain high academic standards and exhibit the need for financial assistance. Applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum of 12 graded credits at the time of application and during the time of disbursement of the award.
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION OUTSTANDING STUDENT AWARD One scholarship of $1500 will be awarded to an outstanding student enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education, majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Education or Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. The student must be a member of a university sponsored professional organization that is related to their major and possess junior or senior standing. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
VIOLA LARSEN JORDHEIM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $335 will be awarded to a senior or graduate student for continued study in Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education at NDSU. The award is based on academic performance, leadership, character, and potential for professional promise in the field of Human Development and Education.
DR. EVELYN MORROW LEBEDEFF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Eight scholarships of $1650 will be awarded to students majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection criteria: students who have demonstrated scholarly achievement, personal integrity and have financial need. Preference is given (in descending order) to Cass County residents (excluding Fargo), or Fargo residents, or foreign students. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
MAJORE LOVERING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP/NORTH DAKOTA ASSOCIATION OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $775 will be awarded to students majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education at NDSU or UND. Selection criteria: demonstrated leadership potential, academic performance and achievement. Preference will be given to students who are members of AAFCS. Recipients must be a junior or senior taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
ELSIE STARK MARTIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS Six scholarships of $880 will be awarded to students majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection is based on the demonstration of professional promise, leadership qualities and financial need. Recipients must be of junior standing and taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
MARGO PAULSEN CHAPTER AH P.E.O. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection criteria: a minimum 3.0 GPA and a junior or senior at the time of disbursement. Preference given to applicants who show potential promise in chosen field. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
JOHN T. SCHNEIDER PEACE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $200 will be awarded to a junior or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference for selection will be given to candidates who meet one or more of the following: a career interest of serving in the U.S. Peace Corps after graduation; a contributor to or staff of the Spectrum and/or a student senator; an employed part-time worker with a full-time academic schedule; a current or past member of the NDSU Student Organization - Young Democrats. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
HARRY AND LILLIE SEIDEL HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $2000 will be awarded to a student majoring in an area of Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Applicant must be a North Dakota native and resident; a sophomore, junior or senior; and have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Financial need shall be a key criterion of the award particularly in reducing the recipient's need to work during the school year. The donor's desire is that the award will enable the recipient to devote more time for career-enhancing activities in addition to maintaining successful academic performance. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
GARDA KYLLO SIVERSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $430 will be awarded to a student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
JEANNE PARIS SOWINSKI OUTSTANDING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $725 is awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education, majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; Education; or Family and Consumer Sciences.  Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement and have a 3.0 CGPA or higher.
ANNA J. THORFINNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $250 will be awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Applicant must be an active member of Phi Upsilon Omicron, if appropriate, or have a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must also demonstrate financial need as defined by the Financial Aid Office. Preference will given to a Family and Consumer Sciences major. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
MABELL WHELAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $640 will be awarded to students majoring in and area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
APPAREL, DESIGN, AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF INTERIOR DESIGNERS STUDENT CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded by the NDSU Student Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Applicant must be a member of the NDSU Student ASID Chapter (membership dues paid), receiving a major in Interior Design. Selection criteria is based on academic performance (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00), active involvement in the NDSU Student Chapter of ASID, and financial need. The recipients must be third or fourth year students enrolled in the Interior Design program taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at the time of award disbursement.
ALVIN L. AND IRENE B. ARNESON AND BARBARA ARNESON BIELFELDT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $440 will be awarded to a student pursuing a career in Apparel and Textiles. Selection is based on financial need as defined by the Office of Financial Aid at NDSU. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
BANCROFT DINING SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $435 will be awarded to a student majoring in Hospitality Management. Selection criteria: high academic profile and financial need (as a secondary consideration). Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
FARGO-MOORHEAD CONVENTION AND VISITOR'S BUREAU SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HMR STUDENTS One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to an upperclassman majoring in Hospitality Management. The student must be committed to the hospitality industry and show professionalism by being a member of the Hospitality Student Organization (HSO) and must be working in one of the local Fargo-Moorhead hospitality establishments. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
FASHION APPAREL AND BUSINESS ORGANIZATION AWARD One scholarship of $100 will be awarded by the Fashion Apparel and Business Organization (FABO). The student must be a member of FABO (membership dues paid), receiving a major or minor in Apparel and Textiles, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The award is based on academic performance, student involvement and leadership in FABO. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
JANECEK SCHOLARSHIP FUND One scholarship of $315 will be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in an area of Apparel and Textiles or Interior Design. Selection will be based on involvement in a student organization of Apparel and Textiles or Interior Design and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to Phi Kappa Phi members who meet the above criteria. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
HELEN ARNESON LUNDE AND VIRGINIA ARNESON PRYNE ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $350 will be awarded to a full-time student majoring in an area of Apparel and Textiles with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
VERN MARKEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Applicant must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be employed in the hospitality and tourism industry. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
ROGER AND ELSIE PITSENBARGER SCHOLARSHIP Six scholarships of $1800 will be awarded to students enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education, majoring in the areas of Apparel and Textiles. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
EMILY P. REYNOLDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $625 will be awarded to a freshman majoring in Apparel and Textiles for use in the sophomore year. Selection criteria: scholarship, leadership potential, and interest in the field of Apparel and Textiles. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
JOHN J. AND CHARLES B. AND ANNE STEGNER SCHOLARSHIP Three scholarships of $495 will be awarded to students majoring in Apparel and Textiles with a concentration or minor in Business Administration with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
THARALDSON ENTERPRISES HOSPITALITY SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to an upperclassman majoring in Hospitality Management. The recipient must be committed to the hospitality industry and show professionalism to the hospitality field. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
DORIS MAE HOLZMAN WISCHOW SCHOLARSHIP Four scholarships of $2500 will be awarded to a student(s), majoring in Apparel and Textiles, who demonstrates: 1) need for financial assistance; and 2) academic excellence with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Priority will given to a female student from North Dakota. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY SCIENCE
ROGER AND NANCY GRESS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education. Preference will be given to students in the dual degree program of Elementary Education/Child Development and Family Science. Other majors eligible area: Child Development and Family Science or Dietetics. The scholarship shall be awarded for use during their sophomore or junior year. A minimum cumulative GPA will be 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must participate in an NDSU student organization and/or a community event or organization. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
IDA B. AND VERLIN K. JOHNSON MEMORIAL FAMILY ENDOWMENT One award of $450 will be awarded to a student majoring in Child Development and Family Science. Selection criteria: must be of junior or senior standing during the year of receiving the scholarship, and must have a cumulative GPA in the top 25% of the individual's class, with a minimum GPA of 2.7. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits, and enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education for at least two semesters at the time of application and disbursement of award. Applicant cannot receive more than two other scholarships during the same year.
JEAN AND LISA PEDERSON MEMORIAL AWARD One award of $470 will be awarded to an outstanding junior or senior majoring in Child Development and Family Science. Selection criteria: academic aptitude, character, and vocational promise. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
DONNA MAE EVANSON SHANKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Child Development and Family Science at North Dakota State University. The recipients must be seniors, taking a minimum of 12 graded credits and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. The amount of each scholarship awarded shall be equal to the North Dakota resident undergraduate tuition for the fall and spring semester regardless of the recipients' hometown. At the time of disbursement, the recipient must be residing in the greater Fargo-Moorhead area.
EDUCATION
MARION C. BENSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $130 will be awarded to a Family and Consumer Sciences Education major who has shown academic excellence, professional promise, and financial need. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
CORA CORWIN AND CHARLES AND BETTY CORWIN SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $680 will be awarded to a student fully admitted to the teacher education program in the School of Education. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, financial need, and be an active member of a professional education association. The funds will be disbursed in the term in which the student is student teaching. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
ERNEST L. DEALTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $660 will be awarded from funds provided by Ernest L. DeAlton, Newberg, Oregon, to an outstanding student who is qualifying for and plans to teach agricultural education in North Dakota. The recipient must be a North Dakota resident, taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
LENORA M. DEALTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $630 will be awarded from funds provided by Ernest L. DeAlton, Newberg, Oregon, to an outstanding student who was active in FFA in high school, who is qualifying for and plans to teach agricultural education in North Dakota. The recipient must be a North Dakota resident, taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
CHRISTINE FINLAYSON MEMORIAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $700 will be awarded to a student majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences Education with academic excellence and professional promise. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
HACH SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATION CHEMISTRY TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $6,000 will be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Chemistry who are committed to become high school chemistry teachers. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must sign a yearly agreement committing to becoming a chemistry teacher to receive the scholarship. Recipient must be a citizen of the United States/permanent resident. Financial need will be considered but shall not be the determining factor in the selection. Selection shall be made without regard to gender, color, race, creed or national origin. The scholarship shall be renewable if requirements are met but not to exceed $36,000.
VIRGINIA CLARK JOHNSON AND RICK JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to recognize demonstrated leadership in North Dakota State University and/or community activities and to encourage students to begin their study in Secondary Education. Preference will be given to the following teaching specialities: History, Social Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Physical Education. Candidate must be a junior or senior accepted into Teacher Education at NDSU, enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education and have a minimum 3.0 CGPA. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
MEL AND SHARYL MAIER SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $770 will be awarded to a student majoring in Agricultural Education or Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Selection criteria: must be current or past participant in a 4-H or FFA program and have financial need. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits and enrolled in the Ag Education or Family and Consumer Sciences Education Program of the School of Education at time of award disbursement.
ELLA HANSEN MCCOY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP One $800 scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is admitted into the School of Education in the College of Human Development and Education. This scholarship shall be given to students who are not recipients of other academically-based scholarships, and may not otherwise be able to attend NDSU due to a lack of financial support. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
MIDWEST DAIRY COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a junior, non-graduating senior, or graduate student majoring in Dietetics, Family and Consumer Sciences Education or Education. Selection criteria: a minimum 2.75 GPA and leadership potential. Must plan to attend NDSU during the 2009-2010 academic year.
JEANNINE KNOTE PETERSON SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $620 will be given to a junior or senior student with junior or senior status who is taking a minimum of 12 graded credits, and admitted into the Teacher Education program at the time of award disbursement. Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or greater, demonstrate financial need as defined by the Financial Aid Office, and show professional promise and determination for success. Applicant's high school total enrollment must have been less than 500 at time of graduation. Preference will be given to students majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. If there is not a Family and Consumer Science Education candidate, any other teaching discipline will be considered that meets the above criteria.
SANDY SHELTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $235 will be awarded to a Family and Consumer Sciences Education major for use during the senior year. Preference will be given (in descending order) to a graduate of West Fargo, North Dakota high school, a married student with dependents, a single parent. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
RUTH LAVON NYE WILLIAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $500 will be awarded to students majoring in Family and Consumer Science. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
HEALTH, NUTRITION, AND EXERCISE SCIENCES
SUSAN J. CROCKETT SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $475 will be awarded to a student majoring in Dietetics with an emphasis in traditional dietetics (didactic program). Selection criteria: Scholarship, leadership, professional promise, and involvement in campus activities. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
RUTH DAWSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One award of $300 will be awarded to a College of Human Development and Education student majoring in Dietetics and with financial need as defined by the Office of Financial Aid. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
DIETETICS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $750 will be awarded to a student majoring in Dietetics. Selection criteria: scholarship and financial need. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
ETs' FITNESS SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $400 will be awarded to a sophomore or junior student (at time of disbursement) majoring in Exercise Science. This scholarship, set up by Dr. Donna Terbizan in memory of her parents, is in recognition of academic excellence in the field of exercise science. Selection criteria: scholarship, leadership and professionalism. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
SHIRLEY HASSEBROCK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a student majoring in Dietetics in the College of Human Development and Education. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
FOOD AND NUTRITION DIETETICS SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $535 will be awarded to a student majoring in Dietetics. The student must be a senior taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at the time of award disbursement and have an overall 3.0 GPA in professional courses as well as in basic science courses.
ROGER AND NANCY GRESS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education. Preference will be given to students in the dual degree program of Elementary Education/Child Development and Family Science. Other majors eligible area: Child Development and Family Science or Dietetics. The scholarship shall be awarded for use during their sophonore or junior year. A minimum cumulative GPA will be 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must participate in an NDSU student organization and/or a community event or organization. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
JAMES AND SHERRY HEYER SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $725 will be awarded to a student majoring in an area of Health Education, Physical Education or Sports and Recreation Studies. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits and a junior or senior at time of award disbursement.
BUCK (FRANCIS) AND HONEY (DOROTHY) ISROW FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $650 will be awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Human Development and Education who has been accepted into the Athletic Training program - curriculum phase. If no applicant is available from the Athletic Training program; Physical Education - Teaching or HNES - Teaching will be considered. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, and demonstrate financial need as reported through the Office of Student Financial Services and/or scholarship application. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
ERV AND MARGARET KAISER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $750 will be awarded to a student in Physical Education or Sport and Recreation Studies. This award from E.E. Kaiser is in recognition of academic excellence and outstanding service to their profession. Applicant must have an overall GPA average of 2.5 or better, with a physical education GPA average of 3.0 or better. Selection is also based on participation in service projects, and membership in physical education association(s) and/or comparable activities. The recipient needs to be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits and a senior at the time of disbursement.
ARLENE KALK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $225 will be awarded to an outstanding physical education major or minor in recognition of their character, leadership and contribution to the profession. Selection criteria: must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, with a 3.0 GPA in physical education; financial need, and active in physical education association(s) or comparable activities. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
CHRISTINE KILORAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $440 will be awarded to a College of Human Development and Education student majoring in Dietetics. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
MIDWEST DAIRY COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a junior, non-graduating senior, or graduate student majoring in Dietetics, Family and Consumer Sciences Education or Education. Selection criteria: a minimum 2.75 GPA and leadership potential. Must plan to attend NDSU during the 2009-2010 academic year.
ROBERT A. MOTT STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD One award of $100 is awarded to a student majoring in Sports and Recreation Management in recognition of academic excellence and overall contributions to recreation. Recipients must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbusement.
LETITIA OLSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $560 will be awarded to students majoring in Dietetics, taking a minimum of 12 graded credits, and of sophomore or junior status at the time of award disbursement.
KEITH SMETTE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $235 will be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Physical Education with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 and qualify for financial aid. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement.
FRANCES SWENSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Four scholarships of $625 will be awarded to students majoring in Dietetics. The recipients must be in Dietetics taking a minimum of 12 graded credits at time of award disbursement, a North Dakota resident, have a high academic profile and have financial need as defined by the Office of Financial Aid.
ERNIE AND JO ERICKSON WHEELER SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $450 will be awarded to a student with a mimimum 2.5 GPA and financial need. Preference is given to a student majoring in Exercise Science or Dietetics. Recipient must be taking a minimum of 12 credits at time of award disbursement.
GRADUATE
JENNIFER BATES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $200 will be awarded to graduate students who are North Dakota residents preparing for a career in guidance and counseling. Selection is based upon evidence of commitment, academic accomplishment and need for assistance. At the time of award disbursement, recipients must be full-time graduate students taking: nine credits and no assistantship; or six credits with a ten hours/week assistantship; or four credits with a 20 hours/week assistantship or registered for Thesis, Research, or Practicum/Internship credits.
GRACE E. BAYLISS GOLD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to an outstanding graduate student majoring in an area of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
BBN AND MH SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a candidate for the doctorate program in Human Development: Applied Gerontology Option or a graduate student earning a Master of Science degree in Public Health or Nutrition Science. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) as recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of The American Dietetic Association (ADA). The applicant must be born in North Dakota, the USA, or Canada, respectively. For doctoral students, preference will be given to applicants working on their dissertation. Recipients are eligible to reapply. There is no limit to the number of times a person can receive the scholarship.
BOARD OF VISITOR'S GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $2000 is awarded to give support to a graduate student in the College of Human Development and Education. The funds are intended to assist a student so they may fully participate in their graduate studies. The recipient is chosen through an interview process related to their research.
CHRISTINE FINLAYSON MEMORIAL GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $675 will be awarded to a current or former Family and Consumer Science teacher who intends to continue education at NDSU which may lead to a Master's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Preference given to applicants who: have taught successfully for at least one year; have an undergraduate degree with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education; and meet admission requirements to the graduate school. If no Master's Degree candidate quailifies, the scholarship may be awarded to a post-baccalaureate student in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
RUTH E. HANSON MEMORIAL GRADUATE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $240 will be awarded to an older-than-average graduate student in Education.
VIOLA LARSEN JORDHEIM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a graduate student for continued study in Apparel, Design, and Hospitality-Tourism Management; Child Development and Family Science; Dietetics; or Family and Consumer Sciences Education at NDSU. The award is based on academic performance, leadership, character, and potential for professional promise in the field of Human Development and Education. Graduate student taking: Nine credits and no assistantship; six credits with 10 hours/week assistantship or 4 credits with 20 hours/week assistantship.
DR. EVELYN MORROW LEBEDEFF AND JAMES LEBEDEFF NEVER STOP LEARNING SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to a student that is a candidate for the doctorate program in Human Development. Preference will be given to the applicant who is working on his/her dissertation. Recipients are eligible to reapply. There is no limit to the number of times a person can receive the scholarship. This scholarship cannot be awarded in conjunction with other HD&E scholarships. The acceptance of external scholarship/funding and assistantships does not disqualify applicants for this award.

MAVIS NYMON FOOD AND NUTRITION GRADUATE STUDY SCHOLARSHIP One scholarship of $200 will be awarded to a graduate student majoring in HNES/Nutrition Option. Selection will be based on character, scholarship, and need. Applicant must demonstrate promise in the field of food and nutrition.
