  • Hal and Alice Dickey Memorial Scholarship
    Scholarship given annually to a student majoring in English, including those preparing to teach in the public school system. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Student must have financial need.

  • Professor Ralph Engel Scholarship
    Scholarship given annually to a student majoring in English after completing at least 21 semester credits at North Dakota State University. Academic achievement is the primary consideration.

  • Madeline S. Gittings Scholarship
    The Gittings Scholarship is awarded to four students in English each year. One is awarded to a graduate student who has demonstrated good progress in graduate studies and has financial need. Two are awarded to undergraduates who have been majors in English or English Education and are continuing in their major, both on the basis of financial need first and scholarly performance second. One of these is awarded to a student who is not only majoring in English but is also doing extensive work in languages. The fourth Gittings scholarship is awarded to a new student majoring in English or English Education on the basis of financial need and scholarly potential.

  • Marjory Archer Haggart Memorial Scholarship
    Scholarship given biennially to a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in English. Financial need is the primary consideration. Preference is given to older-than-average students.

  • G. Wilson Hunter and Phyllis Krantz Hunter Memorial Scholarship
    A Scholarship given annually to a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in English. Financial need is the primary consideration. Preference is given to older-than-average students.

  • Pamela O'Connor Memorial Scholarship
    Scholarship given annually to an English liberal arts, English Education, or to a Master of Arts major who exhibits excellence in writing. Recipient of this award must be properly enrolled at NDSU during the time of actual disbursement of the award.

  • Rooney Scholarship
    A scholarship awarded to a graduate student in English. Academic achievement and perseverance in the pursuit of a degree are equal considerations.

  • Mart and Lois Vogel Award for Excellence
    One or two scholarships given annually to upperclassmen majoring in English. Academic achievement is the primary consideration.
