Robert and Sheila Challey Scholarships Students receiving Challey Scholarships must have talents
and potential, musically and academically, to inspire confidence for
successful completion of a music degree program at NDSU. Recipients
should have a minimum ACT score of ___ or its equivalent, and be regarded
as talented musicians by NDSU Music faculty through an audition process.
All Challey Scholarships may be renewable in successive semesters,
providing that the student (a) maintains full-time status, (b) maintains
adequate progress toward his/her degree, as affirmed by the music
faculty at the end of each semester, (c) maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA
overall, and (d) demonstrates at least a 3.0 GPA in music classes
each and every semester.
*The Robert and Sheila Challey - Bill Euren Fellowship. Awarded
to an incoming music student (first year or transfer). Award will
be equivalent to full tuition costs, up to ND or MN residency amounts.
Each student supported through up to four years of his/her program.
* The Robert and Sheila Challey - Myrtle Euren Challey
Scholarship. Robert and Sheila Challey Scholarships greater
than 1/4 the amount of full tuition. See guidelines above.

Bizicki Scholarship. Robert and Sheila Challey Scholarships
greater than 1/4 the amount of full tuition. See guidelines above.
Alf and Sally Clausen Scholarship
Awarded to a music theory or music instrumental major intending on
pursuing a professional music career. Minimum GPA of 3.0.
A.J. Daveau Family Scholarship
Awarded to music majors based on academic performance and contribution
to the music program.
Stan and Nancy Elofson Scholarship
Awarded to junior and senior music majors based on financial need.
Stella B. Elofson Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding student of piano on the basis of demonstrated
musical ability and performance.
Edwin Fissinger Concert Choir Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding student of music on the basis of demonstrated
ability and performance.
Edwin Fissinger Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a Concert Choir member (new or returning) in memory of
Dr. Edwin R. Fissinger. Awarded by the scholarship committee upon
the recommendation of the Concert Choir director on the basis of dedication
to the choral art, vocal performance, proper enrollment at NDSU, and
need.
Gold Star Alumni Band Award
Awarded annually to a Gold Star Band member exhibiting a high level
of musicianship and leadership in the organization. Awarded by vote
of the band.
Gold Star Band Spirit Scholarship (Bill Euren)
Awarded annually to the Gold Star Band member exhibiting the most
spirit, cooperation, and dedication to the organization. Awarded by
vote of the band.
Agnes Jardine Memorial Scholarship of the Fargo-Moorhead
Area Music Club
Two scholarships granted each year to music students on the basis
of performance ability, scholarship and need.
June Johnson Scholarship
Music scholarship in memory of June Johnson. Awarded to a woodwind
player.
Richard A. Kasper Memorial Scholarship
In memory of Dick Kasper who served as Manager of the Varsity Mart
for many years. Recipients must be an active participant (not necessarily
a major) in the music or theatre arts department. Based on academic
achievement, talent and financial need.
Michael Klosterman Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to an active participant in the NDSU Gold Star Marching Band
and/or Concert Band who has achieved junior or senior standing and
is pursuing a degree in a field other than music.
Mayflower Music Award
A memorial scholarship awarded in memory of Norma L. Kress to music
majors based on outstanding ability in piano performance.
Pam and Jim Miller Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time music major with a GPA of 2.5 or greater, with
preference given to members of band, pep band, or combos, and a
preference given to students with financial need.
Music Department Talent Grant
Awarded to music majors based on performance, scholarship and need.
Jim and Sonja Ozbun Fine Arts Scholarship in
Music
This endowed fund, established in 1995 to honor Jim Ozbun's retirement
as president of NDSU, provides scholarships to support talented students
in the three fine arts areas: music, theatre, and visual arts. The
awards are available to both new and continuing students who show
promise as an artist, show promise of academic success, and demonstrate
current or prospective contribution to the fine arts at NDSU through
performance or exhibition.
Presidential Scholarships in Music
Awarded to incoming freshmen and transfer students who will be majoring
or minoring in music. Scholarships awarded on the basis of performance
ability and academic achievement.
Daphne Thompson Memorial Music Scholarship
Awarded to deserving music majors with demonstrated ability who contribute
through spirit and leadership to departmental goals of excellence.
Ernst van Vlissingen Memorial Music Scholarship
Awarded to a music major in memory of Ernst van Vlissingen. Based
on musical ability and need.
Joann Van Voorhis Memorial Concert Choir Scholarship
Awarded annually to a member (or members) of the NDSU Concert Choir
who, in the judgment of the director, has given unusual dedication
and loyalty to the Concert Choir.
Lawrence Welk Scholarships in Music
A scholarship fund established by Lawrence Welk to aid students
majoring in music. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated musical
ability, scholarship and need.
