Automation Lab

The IME Department also offers a laboratory showcasing some of the high-tech automation equipment currently used in industry. The IME Department’s simulation/automation instructor, Dr.Jing Shi, supervises the lab and implements the equipment into his classes to give students a “real-world” perspective emphasized throughout the curriculum. The equipment currently is composed of the following groups and a conveyer system connecting them.

  • One Scorbot Robot

PLCs

  • An Allen Bardley PLC network
  • Multiple Tri-PLC system

Machine Vision

  • One DVT Vision Systems
  • Two PPT Vision Systems

AutoID Technologies

  • Multiple Barcode Scanners
  • Multiple LF Passive RFID Systems
  • One HF Passive RFID System
  • One UHF Passive RFID System

Electronic Manufacturing Facilities

  • One Stencil Printer
