Are you preparing for class and exams effectively?

Here is what you should be doing:
 

• You should download and print the class notes before class.
• You should preview the relevant readings before class, taking note of topics that are particularly confusing.
• You should attend class regularly and ask questions in class when we discuss these  topics.
• You should review the class notes and readings each week and carefully work through the examples.
• You should ask me about any questions you might have about the material from class.  I am always available during posted office hours and after class.
• You should do the assigned homework in a timely fashion and be prepared with questions when we discuss the homework in class.
• You should, before the exam, review the readings and notes and redo all the homework problems (until you can complete them without assistance).

Here is what I will do to prepare for class:

• I will come to class prepared to present the topics as clearly and concisely as possible.
• I will try to faciltate discussion by asking students to contribute their thoughts.
• I will make available plenty of homework problems for you to practice and will go over their solutions in class.
• I will be available to answer your questions and chat during posted office hours, after class and by appointment.
