POSITION TITLE: Professor and Chair

DESCRIPTION:

The College of Engineering and Architecture at North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Construction Management and Engineering (CM&E). The Chair will be responsible for overseeing curriculum design, facility planning and program implementation and will serve as a mentor and evaluator of the faculty and facilitate a collegial and productive work environment for faculty and staff. He/She is expected to lead the faculty and students in their quest for excellence in education and research, have long-term goals for the department and a vision for attaining these goals. The position will be a full time, 11-month appointment. The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture and is responsible for administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions within the Department.

The CM&E Department currently has more than 306 undergraduates, 6 full-time faculty and 6 part-time faculty. CM&E offers an ABET accredited BS Construction Engineering and an ACCE accredited BS Construction Management. Graduate students can be admitted to the Construction Management Masters, or Civil Engineering with concentration areas in construction engineering for both Masters and Ph.D. programs. The department has strong industrial support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in Construction Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field
  • Proven record of excellence in academic and professional scholarly achievements including teaching, research and service with the credentials necessary for appointment at the full professor rank
  • Provide evidence of fiscal responsibility, leadership and management experience
  • Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal communication and leadership skills as evidenced by their ability to work in teams, resolve problems, direct human resources, and negotiate solutions in a culture of acceptance and collegiality
  • Demonstrate experience with curriculum development to meet ABET-EAC accreditation requirements, ACCE accreditation requirements, and knowledge of innovative curriculum development and implementation
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to seek, promote, and cultivate innovation in construction management and engineering education and research
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Certified Professional Construction (CPC)
  • Service in professional societies, including service on elected boards, editorial boards of journals, and program committees or international conferences
  • Three or more years of professional experience (Industrial and/or Consulting)
