Community Transportation Enhancement

The North Dakota Forest Service, in cooperation with the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the North Dakota Community Forestry Council administers a competitive challenge grant program.

The purpose of the grant program is to enhance community transportation corridors through the planting of trees and shrubs. CTE projects must be located along state or county highways within or adjacent to communities, or primary city transportation routes that feed into state or county highways.

The NDFS is looking for projects that show knowledge of appropriate trees and shrubs for the site, proper tree care and planting techniques.

The community match must at least 20% of the total cost of the project in cash.  The community must have a tree board, a tree ordinance or a pledge to develop one and an annual work plan.

The Community Transportation Enhancement (CTE) application is available in MS Word (Application Deadline has passed, the application is still available to use as a guide for the 2009-2010 Application which will be available in January 2009.)

Other entities that wish to apply for grant dollars must apply through the above entity that has legal ownership or control of the land where the project will be located.
