![]() |
Wildfire Protection Grant ProgramThe Wildfire Grant Protection Program is a compilation of several different funds from the National Fire Plan which was instituted in response to the severe fire season of the year 2000. This funding is used to reduce rural homeowner’s risk of loss and to make rural properties safer from wildfire. Under this program a representative of the North Dakota Forest Service provides a Firewise Hazard Assessment of the property at no cost to the homeowner. Some practices that can be cost-shared include the installation of vegetative fuel breaks, removal of individual trees deemed to be a fire hazard to the home, installation of non-flammable mulch within 3 feet of the foundation of the home, and pruning. Additional information can be downloaded by clicking this link (PDF 622KB). All cost share is at a 50% level. Applicants can sign up at their local Soil Conservation District Office or contact: Trent Bristol, Stewardship Specialist 916 East Interstate Ave. Ste #4, Bismarck, ND 58503 Phone # 701-328-9916 email: Trent.Bristol@ndsu.edu |
