Homen State Forest

 
  The Homen State Forest consists of many parcels of public land with dense aspen and mixed hardwood forests. There are numerous small lakes and wetlands in the area making it prime moose, deer, and waterfowl habitat. Hartley-Boundary Primitive Area is part of the State Forest. The only development on the 660 acre parcel which boarders Boundary and Hartley Lakes are multipurpose trails. Pelican-Sandy Lake Recreation Area is also found on the Homen Unit, as well as public boat access to Long Lake.  
  Pelican - Sandy Lake Recreation Area is located 8 miles north of Bottineau, to highway 43 and 9 miles east.  (Recreational amenities include Primitive Camping, Drinking Water, Picnic Shelters, Boat Access to Pelican Lake. Entrance to Pelican Lake  
  Pelican Lake Boat access is available to Long Lake 8 miles north of  Bottineau to highway 43, turn East 7 miles, turn south 1 mile, turn east 1 mile.
