Sheyenne State Forest

Information about Ransom County

 

 
  The Sheyenne State Forest is located along the Sheyenne River near Fort Ransom, ND. The area is rich in history and plant diversity. The State Forest encompasses part of the Sheyenne River flood plain, deep draws and steep banks of the valley. Oak, ash, elm, ironwood and basswood are common forest species. Deer and other wildlife common to the area are plentiful. Sheyenne River Valley

The State Forest has no developed campgrounds, but Fort Ransom State Park is located a few miles up the river.

The State Forest provides hiking trails and river access for fishing and canoeing.

LOCATION

10 miles NW of Lisbon, ND County Road 13 along the Sheyenne River Valley Scenic Byway/Backway.
