Accreditation and National Licensure

All states require new graduates to pass a rigorous national examination before they are licensed as registered nurses. The number of NDSU graduates who pass the examination on their first attempt exceeds the national and state average.

The baccalaureate program at NDSU is accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the autonomous accrediting body of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and graduate education programs preparing effective nurses. The address for CCNE is: One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 10036-1120; telephone 1-202-887-6791

The baccalaureate nursing program is approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. The master's nursing program has received preliminary approval with eligibility for full approval in 2008.

State regulations require an 8:1 student-faculty ratio in the clinical practicum, which further ensures quality professional training.

Students in the program are are eligible for various scholarship programs, including those of the armed forces.
