About Us

The Bison Information Network is NDSU's first student run television network. The mission of the BIN is two-fold. The primary purpose of the BIN is broadcast a weekly news program covering Bison athletics, student government meetings, highlighting student organizations, and much more. The BIN is also a platform for student created content that will be broadcast on an internal network and via our website.

The BIN is continuing its efforts to bring a studio to NDSU, but we are starting work on projects to practice our production skills. If you are interested in doing some filming drop us a line and we'll put you to work.

How It All Started

The BIN started as a Student Government Project in 2007. The Executive Commissioner of Technology, Brian Fier, saw a need for more coverage of NDSU events such as sports, student government meetings, special projects, and much more so he brought the idea of a student run TV station to the Student Government Technology Committee. A subcommittee was formed and chaired by Mike Ostlie and Peter Gregory who, with Brian Fier, became the founding members of the BIN. These three students worked vigorously throughout the 2007-2008 school year to obtain support of faculty and staff in nearly every area of NDSU. With this support and a lot of hard work the BIN has secured space in the library and funding from the Student Government and the Student Technology Fee for a state-of-the-art studio.

Interesting Facts

The founding members of the BIN are not Communication majors. Brian Fier is a graduate student majoring in Natural Resources Management, Mike Ostlie is a graduate student majoring in Plant Sciences, and Peter Gregory is an undergraduate student majoring in Accountancy.
