The NDSU Student Court of Justice represents the
Judicial Branch of Student Government. The Student Court consists of a
panel of Associate and Assistant Justices led by the Chief Justice.
Justices serve from the time of appointment to the completion of their
studies at this university, resignation from the court, or recall by
the Student Senate. Court vacancies are filled by student body
president appointment when vacancies arise during the regular school
year.
The Student Court has final jurisdiction on issues such as
constitutional interpretation, constitutionality of Student Senate
legislation; cases involving student body elections; cases involving
the violation of the Student Body Constitution, Student Government Code
or Student Senate legislation; and cases involving conflict with
recognized student organizations. In addition, they have the power to
issue injunctions or impose monetary fines in cases within its
jurisdiction.
