•Yu Zhang, MS student in Cereal Science Program and GRA in Plant Sciences Department received third place in the 2009 IFT Carbohydrate Division Paper Competition held during the annual IFT meeting in Anaheim, CA. Her presentation was entitled “Changes of Polysaccharides in Refrigerated Dough System During Storage”. Yu also received an IFT Minnesota Division Graduate Scholarship and IFT Carbohydrate Division Graduate Scholarship (2nd place) for her outstanding scholarship and scientific merit of her research. Yu Zhang’s advisor is Dr. Senay Simsek (Plant Sciences). Yu Zhang and Dr. Simsek collaborated with Dr. Osvaldo Campanella from Purdue University for this research.
