Published: 27 February 2012 11:25 AM

Kent Kapplinger, associate professor of visual arts, was awarded Best of Show for his piece “27000 Wells” in Americas 2012: Paperworks, an annual international juried exhibition at Northwest Art Center in Minot, N.D. A lithograph titled “North Dakota Slant” also was accepted into the exhibition. This year, 180 artists submitted works from around the world with a total of 552 works for consideration. Kapplinger’s work was among 56 selected for the exhibition by juror Michael Barnes, a printmaker and professor at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

As Best of Show recipient, Kapplinger will receive a solo exhibition next year with an accompanying honorarium, plus the selected work will become part of the Center’s permanent collection.
