The NDSU School of Music announces two Inaugural Gala Concerts featuring the NDSU Concert Choir and NDSU Wind Symphony Tuesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, Minn., and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in NDSUs Festival Concert Hall in the Music Education Building. Admission to both concerts is free.
The concerts are being held in celebration of the programs recent recognition as the School of Music. The performances will feature the world premiere of Jocelyn Hagens Swimming Into Winter, a piece for choir and winds commissioned by the School of Music.
The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education officially changed the Department of Music to the School of Music in September 2012, signifying its far-reaching mission encompassing a broad-based curriculum that includes professional doctoral programs in performance and conducting.
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
