Gate City Bank has been named an NDSU Campus Community Partner to recognize how the two organizations collaborate to benefit the community.

In recognition of the partnership, the NDSU and Gate City Bank flags fly together in the NDSU flag pavilion located on the corner of 12th Avenue North and 18th Street North in Fargo.

“Gate City Bank has been an outstanding partner on several important projects at NDSU,” said NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. “Gate City Bank’s engagement with campus will have a lasting impact on generations of students and student-athletes who will use their educations and experiences to make a difference in their communities and beyond.”

Gate City Bank stepped up to fund the renovation of a heavily used auditorium and provided an endowment for the ongoing maintenance of the space. The renovation modernized the 1960s-era classroom for the start of classes in fall 2012.

Gate City Bank also provided support for a classroom at Richard H. Barry Hall where NDSU’s College of Business is located. Bison fans enjoy watching the football team play on the Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome. And Gate City Bank employees are engaged in campus and classroom activities throughout the year.

“Partnering with NDSU supports the core of Gate City Bank’s mission statement, particularly the commitment to providing a better way of life for our communities,” said Steve Swiontek, Gate City Bank chair, president and CEO. “We certainly see NDSU following that similar vision of a post-secondary education improving the quality of life for students, student-athletes and the communities of North Dakota.”

President Bresciani established the Campus Community Partner program in 2012 to recognize private sector collaborations with the university that benefit the community. Other Campus Community Partners are Sanford Health and Microsoft.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation’s top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.

A $1.6 billion mutual community bank, Gate City Bank has been providing complete banking services to its customers since 1923. Gate City Bank has 33 convenient banking offices across North Dakota and Minnesota, and employs 460 people. A 34th banking office is scheduled to open on Veterans Boulevard in West Fargo in early 2014.
