The NDSU School of Music is offering free live streaming of its performance of George Handel’s “Messiah” scheduled Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. The event will be available at new.livestream.com/NDSUPerformingArts.
Offered for the first time in the School of Music’s history, live streaming of this and other performances allows audiences from throughout the world the opportunity to observe and listen to our talented faculty and students.
Coordinated by Jo Ann Miller, Baroque Festival music director, more than 200 students in five choirs and the Baroque Festival Orchestra will present Handel’s monumental piece, which has become a holiday tradition throughout the world. Premiered in Dublin, Ireland, in 1742, the “Messiah” combines Old and New Testament texts concerning the prophecies of a savior.
The five choirs performing include the NDSU Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, University Chamber Singers, Cantemus and the Statesmen of NDSU. The performance will be held at Festival Concert Hall at NDSU.
