Two Bison baseball players named to Academic All-League Team

NDSU seniors Tim Colwell and Wes Satzinger were named to The Summit League Baseball Academic All-League Team, the league office announced June 11.



Colwell was named the 2014 Capital One Baseball Academic All-American of the Year, while being named to the first team for the third-straight season. He was also tabbed The Summit League Player of the Year and earned his third consecutive first team all-league honor. He graduated with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average, with a major in zoology major and a Spanish minor. He is from Shoreview, Minnesota.

Satzinger, a second team All-Summit League selection from Andover, Minnesota, has a 3.72 GPA as a health and physical education major.



To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions, except pitchers in baseball and softball who must have participated in 20 percent of their team's total contests. The baseball all-league team is made up of the nine student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
