NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani has invited Maher Maso, mayor of Frisco, Texas, to attend festivities surrounding the Bison football home opener Saturday, Sept. 13. Frisco’s Toyota Stadium is the site of the annual NCAA Division I Football Championship Game, which NDSU has won the past three years.

NDSU plays the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas, at 2:30 p.m. in the Fargodome.

Plans call for Maso to participate in a corporate sponsor flag-raising event with President Bresciani and members of the Scheels team. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m. at the NDSU Flag Plaza, located on 12th Avenue North near the overpass.

Maso’s itinerary also includes a tour of the Fargodome.

On game day, Maso is expected to enter the Fargodome through the field helmet, conduct the coin toss before kickoff and address the crowd.

Maso was elected mayor in 2008 and reelected in 2011. His term expires in 2017. He previously was a member of the Frisco City Council from 2000-07.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
