Faculty member places second in advising competition

Harlene Hatterman-Valenti, associate professor of plant sciences, was awarded second place in the Adviser of the Year competition at the Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority national convention in Naples, Florida, during August.

Hatterman-Valenti received the 2014 Bison Leader Advising Award in May. She was nominated for that award by the NDSU Sigma Alpha Sorority chapter, and her information was forwarded to the national competition.

Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship for its members. The NDSU chapter of Sigma Alpha was established in 1993.
